Colposcopy
Colposcopy
units, the centres where examination of the patient is undertaken,
biopsies may be taken and treatment is carried out, also comes under
the scrutiny of the QARC.
| Quality
standards are being implemented nationally. On a regional basis,
this includes the collection of statistical information ( KC65
returns) which deals with waiting times and outcomes of treatment.
IT systems have been provided by the QARC to enable consistent
and accurate returns to be completed and these are validated
and monitored before it is submitted on to the Department of
Health. |

Site visits, not only for colposcopy clinics, but for the whole cervical
screening process in each health authority have been introduced and
organised by the QARC. This information completes the picture across
the region.
A paper-based audit of colposcopy has been produced in the Mersey
Region, the results of which have been widely circulated.
There is a Lead Professional Group which holds regular meetings in
the Mersey end of the region. |
