| The QARC is also responsible for
ensuring that the National Gynaecological Cytopathology EQA
(External Quality Assurance) scheme as described in NHSCSP Publication
15, External Quality Assessment Scheme for Gynaecological
Cytopathology, is organised.
The scheme involves each individual in all
NHSCSP laboratories who participate in the Cervical Screening
Programme to being given 10 slides to report. A preliminary
report, based on the submitted grading of the slides is issued
immediately after the participant has submitted their responses
to the Gynae EQA Facilitator. A final report based on regional
participant consensus is issued once all laboratories have
looked at and reported the slides. Individual participant's
performance is monitored over a rolling three round period.
