Primary Care
| It
has been recognised that it is essential to improve smear taking
techniques in order to lower inadequate smear rates - thereby
reducing patient anxiety and unnecessary workload for laboratories. |
 |
This
could be achieved by encouraging mentor practices and the means
to provide additional training courses for nurses and G.P.'s.
Extra funding has been allocated by the QARC to facilitate this.
Smear taker codes have been introduced so that laboratories
can use statistical analysis to pinpoint areas of difficulty. |
